About Chesapeake Boating Academy
Woman owned and operated, Chesapeake Boating Academy was established to empower boaters and promote boating safety. Our mission is to create an inclusive learning environment where regardless of experience, everyone can feel comfortable getting behind the wheel, practicing and improving their boat handling skills. We believe that being a safe and responsible boater also means being an environmentally friendly boater. We are advocates of clean water and promote clean boating practices so that we can leave our local waters better for future generations.
We are water people and one of the reasons that we love boating is that we get to explore. Our goal is to create an on-water training program that allows our students to learn the ins and outs of boating while experiencing new parts of the Chesapeake’s tributaries. and it’s historic waterfront towns. We believe that hands-on practice and having fun is the best way to retain on-water knowledge. We want you to leave with a new skillset that you will be able to take with you and confidently apply to your next boating experience. Join us to become a smarter boater and safer boater.
Meet Sarah.
I opened Chesapeake Boating Academy to provide high-quality on-water instruction to boaters of all experience levels. Having grown up in a family run marine towing & salvage business, now in its 35th year, I have learned that the secret to success is providing unparalleled customer services with a focus on communication, teamwork and commitment. I have hand-picked Captains and trained them as National Safe Boating Council Instructors- my mission is to create a safe hands-on learning environment where students can feel comfortable practicing and honing their skills on the water. Our captains reflect the professionalism and kindness that makes Chesapeake Boating Academy what it is.
Licensed & Insured. Our training vessels are dry, comfortable and ideal for hands-on learning.
Boating on the Chesapeake Bay
Chesapeake Boating Academy has 2 locations: Annapolis and Kent Narrows, MD. Our locations offers a variety of conditions including: flat water, open water and light & heavy current, bridges, anchorages, navigable waterways. At our Kent Narrows location, we do a majority of our courses on Marshy Creek, Prospect Bay, the Chester River, Miles River and the Wye River. There is an abundance of wildlife living in the tributaries. At our Annapolis location, we run our training on the Severn River, Chesapeake Bay and Spa Creek. Along with practicing boating skills, we also put an emphasis on reducing the environmental impact as a boater and promote clean water practices.
